Thumbay Hospital – Ajman, part of the Thumbay network of academic hospitals operated by the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group, and affiliated to the Gulf Medical University (GMU) – Ajman, hosted a Japanese student for the observership program, as part of her MBBS program in Japan.
The student, Ms. Yuko Sakamota, 6th year MBBS student of Osaka City University in Japan completed her one-month observership at Thumbay Hospital – Ajman on Saturday, 2nd July 2016. This is the first time that GMU and its network of Thumbay teaching hospitals has hosted a student from Japan, for observership.
Ms. Sakamota visited GMU to thank the administrative and academic leadership for supporting her throughout the program. She described her observership experience at Thumbay Hospital as ‘deeply enriching and highly enjoyable’. She was particularly happy about having got the chance to interact with patients from many different cultures and nationalities.
Established at Ajman in 1998 as the Gulf Medical College by Mr. Thumbay Moideen, the Founder President of Thumbay Group, the institution became a full-fledged medical university – the Gulf Medical University, in 2008. GMU is today considered the most in demand private medical university in the region. Internationally recognized curriculum, own network of teaching hospitals, an established research division, highly experienced/qualified faculty, separate furnished hostels for boys and girls, safe transportation facilities, on campus recreation and refreshment facilities etc. are some of the factors behind the huge popularity of the University. GMU’s student cohort is a confluence of 73 nationalities, and it has faculty members and staff from around 22 nationalities. The Thumbay network of ultra-modern teaching hospitals and clinics treat patients from around 175 nationalities, daily.
GMU degrees are highly regarded not only because the students gain early clinical exposure, but also because they are trained on the most advanced research infrastructure and facilities. GMU’s prestigious accreditations and tie-ups give wide recognition to its programs. Its unique Summer Training Program (STP) gives global exposure to GMU students. GMU is presently inviting applications for admissions to its courses including MBBS, BPT, DMD, PharmD as well as Bachelor of Health Sciences and Masters Programs in various specializations, for the upcoming academic year (September 2016 intake).
