Gulf Medical University has launched two new colleges and seven new higher education programs starting from the upcoming academic year 2018-19. The newly launched colleges include the Nursing College and College of Health Care Management and Health Economics, which brings the total number of colleges to six. The University offers 20 accredited courses, with around 4 more additional courses awaiting accreditation, expected to be added soon.

The undergraduate programs include: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D), Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBMS), Associate Degree in Pre-Clinical Sciences (ADPCS) and Bachelor of Science courses in Anesthesia Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Imaging Sciences and Nursing. Located at Sharqan area, the Juma Masjid has a capacity of 200 worshippers and offers Friday sermons in English

A new mosque, Juma Masjid, built by Dr. Thumbay Moideen – Founder President of Thumbay Group and his family at Al Maqdisi Street in Sharqan area, Sharjah, has opened its doors to worshippers from today, 13th August 2018.

Located opposite to Anjad Police Station, the mosque serves all five daily prayer times, Friday and Ramadan prayers, and is conveniently accessible from Street 59. It has the capacity to accommodate 200 worshippers, and has separate entrances and prayer halls for men and women. An important highlight of the masjid is that its Friday sermon (khuthba) is delivered in English.

This is the second masjid built by Dr. Thumbay Moideen and family in the UAE. The first one – Thumbay Moideen Masjid – located at Thumbay Medicity in Al Jurf, Ajman has the capacity to accommodate up to 400 worshippers at a time, has separate entrances for men and women and has English khuthba.

In continuation of its efforts to provide high-quality specialized care to patients, Thumbay Hospital Day Care – Rolla, Sharjah launched a ‘Mother and Child Care Center’ at the hospital on 4th August 2018. The center was officially launched by the chief guest Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group in the presence of members of the administrative team of the hospital.

The ‘Mother and Child Care Center’ ensures the best possible care for every mother and baby before, during and after the birth of the newborn. The center is manned by a team of eminent doctors and healthcare professionals including well-experienced Gynaecologists and Pediatrician, as well as a female Radiologist.

Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay also presented the ‘clinical excellence awards’ at the function, in recognition of outstanding clinical contributions. Gulf Medical University Transforms from Local to Global Medical University, Launches New Programs and Colleges

Gulf Medical University (GMU), one of the top 50 medical educational institutes in the region, announced the launch of an Academic Thumbay University Hospital, two new colleges and new programs as part of its planned educational strategy.

Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder and President of Thumbay Group has approved a budget of AED1 billion to expand and transform the Thumbay Medicity into a comprehensive educational and academic hub.

The new programs and colleges under Gulf Medical University were announced during a press conference hosted by the University Chancellor, Professor Hossam Hamdy, at GMU.

The latest development include the launch of two new collages at the University, Nursing College and College of Health Care Management and Health Economics, which brings the total number of colleges to six.

GMU will also introduce new higher education programs in nursing during the academic 2018-19.

As part of this expansion, two new programs: Master’s degree in Public Health and another in Environmental Health and toxicology, came as a result of recently forged partnership between GMU and University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (UA-MEZCOPH), USA.

The University had also signed several other memoranda of cooperation and understanding with a number of leading educational institutes, in an effort to enrich its students’ education.

Professor Hamdy also announced the launch of the University Hospital in Ajman in October. With an initial capacity of 350 beds, the new hospital’s capacity is expected to reach nearly 500 beds once it is fully operational.

The new hospital, one of three including the Dental Hospital and The Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Hospital are all located at the Thumbay Medicity in Al Jurf in Ajman.

The University is also implementing the latest technologies in teaching and training students across all majors, to ensure their work place readiness once they graduate.

The launch function was held at Gulf Medical University (GMU) – Ajman on 1st August 2018, in the presence of the chief guest Dr. Thumbay Moideen – Founder President of Thumbay Group, Prof. Hssam Hamdy – Chancellor of GMU, Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay – Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group and other guests. The software was officially launched by Dr. Thumbay Moideen.

Developed using advanced technologies, the Sehatak 8.1 version is compatible with all browsers and can be accessed from portable devices as well. It is specially designed to cater to the needs of large healthcare providers and hospital chains. Its advantages include reduced administration overheads and superior compatibility on account of being platform independent. It features advanced security features including biometric authentication. One of the highlights of the application is its speech recognition functionality, enabling the conversion of audio to text.

Sehatak 8.1 also supports e-records, significantly reducing cost and storage requirements, at the same time safeguarding against loss or damage of patient records. This in turn facilitates better analysis and decision-making and data exchange between and with entities under the parent facility. Furthermore, the application is fully compliant with the UAE Government requirements (DHA/MOH/HAAD).

Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Akram Moideen Thumbay – Director of Thumbay Technologies said that the event was an important milestone in Thumbay Technologies’ efforts to implement new technologies across Thumbay Group and its entities. “Developing innovative technologies with focus on the educational and healthcare sectors is one of the priority areas of Thumbay Technologies. Artificial Intelligence is one of our focus areas. We aim to make Thumbay Group and its entities completely paperless by 2020,” he said.

Mr. Akram also said that Thumbay Technologies would shortly be opening marketing offices in the US, UK and Africa and a development center in India. “We are working towards new technologies like Blockchain technology for healthcare, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for healthcare processes and incorporating AI into our hospital management software.
