Thumbay Hospital – Fujairah, part of the Thumbay network of academic hospitals operated by the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group and affiliated to GMU, celebrated the completion of 10 years of excellence in healthcare services with a gala function on Thursday, 2nd June 2016. Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group was the chief guest of the function held at Concorde Hotel, Fujairah. Also present were Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay – Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group and other members of the administrative team of Thumbay Group.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Thumbay Moideen expressed his happiness at the accomplishments of Thumbay Hospital – Fujairah. He also emphasized the role of the hospital in providing high-quality healthcare at affordable costs, to a plethora of beneficiaries from all sections of the society. “The completion of the first decade has provided a useful perspective to look back over the efforts undertaken to provide advanced and affordable healthcare services to the community, and the results achieved so far”, he said.

Mr. Thumbay Moideen handed over the awards to Doctors and other staff members, who were recognized for their dedicated efforts and services. Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay handed over the prizes to the staff who won the lucky draw contest held as part of the celebrations.

Earlier, Dr. Mohammad Faisal Parvez – Assistant Administrative Director of Thumbay Hospital, Fujairah welcomed the gathering. Dr. Osama Mahmoud Rizk – Medical Director of the hospital delivered the vote of thanks. Cultural activities by staff and dinner followed.

The University has so far received a whopping 7000+ applications, compared to 5000 applications received last year

Gulf Medical University (GMU) established in 1998, the most sought-after private medical university in the region located at Ajman, UAE recently announced that it had started inviting applications for the upcoming academic year. As soon as the announcement was made, the Admissions Department of GMU started receiving a flood of applications for the different medical courses conducted by the University. The admissions department is currently in the process of shortlisting and interviewing admission-seekers.

‘World No Tobacco Day’

Students of Gulf Medical University (GMU) marked ‘World No Tobacco Day’ with a  variety of activities at the university campus in Ajman, on Tuesday, 31st May 2016.

Students conducted talks on the harmful effects of tobacco and the importance of abstaining from tobacco products. They demonstrated the issues related to the harmful effects of tobacco use on the human body, and played games designed to spread awareness on the diseases caused by tobacco use. Informative presentations on the harmful effects of nicotine were also conducted by the students.

World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is observed around the world every year on May 31. World No Tobacco Day was first introduced by the World Health Organization to be celebrated as the most recognized event all over the world in order to make people aware of all the problems and health complications caused by the use of tobacco chewing or smoking to prevent all the health hazards to make the whole world free of tobacco and healthy world of people.

Thumbay Clinic – Umm Al Quwain, part of the network of state-of-the-art Thumbay Clinics operated by Thumbay Group, organized a health talk on healthy habits & hygiene at the ‘Parents Forum’ of New Indian School – Umm Al Quwain, on Saturday, 28th May 2016.

 

The health talk was delivered by Dr. Muhsina Izzudheen, General Physician of Thumbay Clinic UAQ, and was attended by many parents. The program was organized to educate parents about the importance of promoting proper nutrition and hygiene among their children.

‘Teachers Health Awareness Week’

Thumbay Medical & Dental Specialty Center – Sharjah, celebrated ‘Teachers Health Awareness Week’ from 21st to 26th May 2016.

The launch program of the ‘Teachers Health Awareness Week’ was held at the hospital. Mr. Srivalsan Murugan, Principal & CEO of Our Own English High School Sharjah (Boys Branch) and Ms. Nasreen Banu B.R., Principal of Gulf Asian English School LLC, Sharjah, were the guests of honor at the launch. Dr. Manish Singhal – Chief Operating Officer & Dr. Shaju Philip – Assistant Administrative Director of Thumbay Medical & Dental Specialty Center Sharjah were also present at the inaugural function.

Mr. Srivalsan Murugan & Ms. Nasreen Banu expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Thumbay Group for the unique program aimed at enhancing the health and fitness of the teachers, designed to increase their happiness and boost their morale, productivity and effectiveness.

As part of the awareness week, the hospital held an interaction with all the teachers of Our Own English High School Sharjah (Boys Branch), which was facilitated by Mr. Srivalsan Murugan. The interaction aimed to raise the health awareness among the teachers. The program was appreciated by the school authorities for its effectiveness in enlightening the participants on various health issues.

During the ‘Teachers Health Awareness Week’, Thumbay Medical & Dental Specialty Center – Sharjah also offered a host of benefits to teachers, which included free blood sugar, blood pressure and BMI checkups, ECG, stress-management workshop, exercise demonstration for chronic neck and back pains, mammogram and teeth scaling & polishing. Teachers also availed free consultation with GP, Cardiologist, Psychiatrist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Gynecologist and Dental Specialist.

The event was a grand success & benefited approximately 1100 Teachers from leading schools in Sharjah, including Our Own English High School (Boys Branch), Gulf Asian English School, Delhi Private School, GEMS Public School, Westminster School and Scholars Private School.
